Emilie de Ravin fala sobre Remember Me

MTV: Então, como "Remember Me" apareceu no seu caminho? Você teve que ler o roteiro com o Rob?
De Ravin: Eles estavam tentanto encontrar alguém pro meu papel há algum tempo, testando várias garotas diferentes. Eu li o roteiro três semanas antes de começarem a filmar. Eu voei para Nova York para fazer o teste com o Rob e nós nos entendemos imediatamente e tivemos uma ótima química instantânea, o que não é fácil de acontecer. Obviamente, você está tuando, mas você quer ter aquela conexão com a pessoa. Nós tínhamos. E eu fui lançada em uma guerra com o guarda-roupa no mesmo dia.

MTV: Antes de ser escolhida, você tinha alguma noção de toda loucura que cerca o Rob a onde quer que ele vá?
De Ravin: Eu acho que tinha, mas não foi nada no que eu tivesse pensado até que cheguei ao set no primeiro dia e era como "Ooooh, OK". Provavelmente, 90% do filme foi filmado em locações, principalmente em Manhattan, e ter os paparazzi e os fãs indo assistir adiciona um novo elemento. Você tem que se concentrar muito mais.

MTV: Foi muito louco?
De Ravin: Houve vários momentos loucos no qual estávamos filmando nas locações e tínhamos que espeerar que as pessoas saíssem das filmagens. As pessoas não queriam sair. Rob e eu ríamos disso. Teve uma cena na qual nós estávamos num encontro numa feira e estávamos muito expostos à mídia, aos paparazzi e aos fãs. Nós estávamos ensaiando e ficávamos tão cientes das pessoas nos observando, e nós dois paramos e nos olhamos e foi como se estivessemos pensando "Espere, o que estavamos fazendo?". Você perde a concentração no seu trabalhado quando milhares de pessoas estão assistindo você enquanto você está apenas tentando entender sua cena.

MTV: Como era a sua relação com o Rob por trás das câmeras?
De Ravin: Foi tão bom poder trabalhar com alguém com quem me entendi imediatamente e é tão incrivelmente talentoso e estava disposto a fazer o filme do melhor jeito possível. Ter alguém com quem você pudesse sair e conversar sobre uma cena, e tudo ser muito casual e fácil, deixando as gravações tão agradáveis - ter um certo nível de amizade e comprometimento com o roteiro. O modo como o Rob e eu desenvolvemos nossa relação em frente às câmeras foi muito natural, apenas vendo o que acontecia com as cenas, o que acontecia em cada momento.

MTV: Você está me dizendo que vocês não assistiam "Crepúsculo" juntos todos os dias no seu trailer?
De Ravin: Não! Eu não tinha visto os filmes até começar a gravar. São ótimos. Eles são muito diferentes desse filme. "Crepúsculo" e "Remember Me" não poderiam ser mais diferentes. Não há muitas similaridades entre Edward Cullen e Tyler.

MTV: Então, você interpreta a Ally, uma universitária que se apaixona pelo Tyler do Pattinson. Me conte um pouco sobre a relação desses dois personagens.
De Ravin: A relação entre a Ally e o Tyler é desenvolvida de um modo tão lindo. É uma história de amor tão honesta, orgânica e real. Não é a história de amor típica de Hollywood. Nenhum deles estava realmente procurando por isso, mas aconteceu. Obviamente, tem uma atração física, mas tem também aquela coisa que você não consegue colocar em palavras. Eles se conhecem em circunstâncias muito aleatórias. Não é amor à primeira vista, mas eles ficam intrigados à primeira vista. Os dois passaram por grandes tragéidas que, antes da relação deles, os havia feito se fecharem, pensando que ninguém poderia entender como eles realmente se sentiam. Eles apenas entendem um ao outro. Não há falsidade. É tudo muito claro, quem eles são. Às vezes, isso é bonito, algumas vezes é feio e outras vezes é frustrante, mas está tudo às claras.

Emilie de Ravin talks about Remember Me

MTV: So how did "Remember Me" come your way? Did you have to read with Rob?
De Ravin: They'd been looking to cast my role for a while, looking at a lot of different girls. I read the script three weeks before they started shooting. I flew to New York to test with Rob and we immediately got along and had instant great chemistry, which is not an easy thing to come by. Obviously you're acting, but you want to have that connection with somebody. We had it. And I was thrown into a wardrobe fitting that same day.

MTV: Before you were cast, did you have a sense of all the craziness that surrounds Rob everywhere he goes?
De Ravin: I suppose I did, but it was not something I thought about until I got to set that first day and was like, "Ooooh, OK." Probably 90 percent of the film we shot on location, mainly in Manhattan, and having the paparazzi and fans coming to watch, it adds, um, another element. You have to focus much more.

MTV: Was it just nuts?
De Ravin: There were a lot of crazy moments where you're filming on location and you're waiting for people to get out of the shot. People don't want to move. Rob and I would laugh about that. There was a scene where we're on a date at a carnival, and it was very exposed to media, paparazzi and fans. We were rehearsing, and you become so self-conscious of people watching you, and we both stopped and looked at each other and were like, "Wait, what are we doing?" You're taken out of your work mentality with hundreds of people watching you when you're just trying to figure out your scene.

MTV: What was your relationship with Rob like off-camera?
De Ravin: It was so great being able to work with someone you immediately get along with and is incredibly talented and is driven to make the film as good as we can. Having someone you can go and talk with about a scene, and it's all very casual and easy, that made filming such a delight — having a friendship level and a commitment to the script. The way Rob and I developed our relationship onscreen was very natural, and just seeing what happened with scenes, what happens in the moment.

MTV: But you're telling me you guys didn't watch "Twilight" together in your trailer every day?
De Ravin: No! I hadn't seen the films prior to shooting. They're great. They're such a different genre to this film. "Twilight" and "Remember Me" couldn't be more different. Not so many similarities between Edward Cullen and Tyler.

MTV: So you play Ally, a college student who falls for Pattinson's Tyler. Tell me a bit about the relationship between these two characters.
De Ravin: The relationship between Ally and Tyler is so beautifully developed. It's such an honest, organic, real love story. It's not your typical Hollywood love story. Neither one of them were really looking for it, but it just happened. Obviously there's a physical attraction, but also that thing you can't put into words. They're brought together in very random circumstances. It's not love at first sight, but they're intrigued at first sight. They've both had major family tragedies that, prior to their relationship, have closed them off, thinking no one can understand the way they really feel. They just get each other. There's no false performance. It's all open and who they are. That's sometimes beautiful and sometimes ugly and sometimes frustrating, but it's all on the table.
